Hardcore music fans in Philly got a rare treat as Comeback Kid stormed through the now legendary First Unitarian Church basement in Center City with comrades Wisdom In Chains, Reign Supreme, Suburban Scum, and Bitter End. Hosted by Joe ‘Hardcore’ McKay and his Philly Hardcore Shows booking team, it was apparent from the onset, this night was going to be a special one as bodies filed in unwaveringly.
Comeback Kid‘s original vocalist Scott Wade rejoined the band on vocals for these current select dates, while current vocalist Andrew Neufeld was back in his initial position, playing guitar. To celebrate this reunion of sorts, Facedown Records has re-issued the band’s debut LP Turn It Around on gold, red, and blue vinyl with new artwork from Philly’s Mike Bukowski (who also has an exclusive column at BTS). The new pressing is limited to 1,000 copies.
Philly hardcore champs Wisdom In Chains put in a performance to remember that sparked sheer mayhem on the floor and stage. Mammoth gang vocals and pile-ons punctuated a relentless performance. Philly’s own Reign Supreme, who are currently supporting on new EP, Sky Burial, on Mediaskare Records also put in one for the books as the band prepares to embark on their summer tour dates. Last and certainly not least, the bill was rounded out by Bitter End and Suburban Scum who wasted no time raising the temperature in the room as all the guilty parties more than stepped up for this rare and intimate occasion.
